BARLEY MOW VILLAGE HALL 50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION EVENT

Saturday the 22nd of October saw our 50th Anniversary celebration event at the hall.

Over 100 members of our community assembled to celebrate this milestone in the hall’s history.

Many thanks go to the students of Gateshead College media department who spent their summer break researching the halls history, interviewing present and past users and staff of the hall and making a wonderful 30 minute video of it’s history and activities. The video was premiered at the event for the attendees and met with great interest.

The evening was started with an address from the Chairman of the hall Andrew Brown-Searle followed by the Video and a further address by the Worshipful Mayor of Gateshead Dot Burnett.

Our Development Officer Graeme Wilkinson also spoke about the activities of the hall and the program for the evening including the buffet for all attendees. The Barley Mow bar was also open for those wishing refreshments, followed by the first set from our resident 70’s rock band CSAW.

A short Bingo session and calling of the raffle was held followed by the second set from our Great Band CSAW.

We would like to thank all those who attended the event and our great squad of volunteers who helped in great part to make the event possible.
